I-40 Now Open To Traffic
I-40 west opened to all vehicles shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday. The roadway had been shut down starting at mile marker 20 to the Tennessee state line since January 31 after a rockslide threatened the safety of drivers. A second rockslide last week caused an ever bigger cleanup for crews. One lane does remain closed at this time as you cross into Tennessee, so drivers are urged to take caution if driving through the area.
