Mountain Snow

The latest March snowstorm dumped varying amounts of snow in Western North Carolina. Elevation can make all the difference.
Main Street in Waynesville saw only a dusting of snow, but Soco Mountain in Jackson County easily saw 5 to 6 inches of snow fall overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday.
One snowplow driver says he cleared roads in communities that had 9 inches. There was a lot of digging out Wednesday, but also folks taking another March snow in stride finding ways to have fun, despite some winter weariness.
Jackson County resident Bryon Ayen says, “We’re ready for Spring. I do construction so I’m tired of the snow. I’m ready for it to go.”
That may be a popular sentiment around Western North Carolina, but Spring doesn't officially get here for another couple weeks.
