Top Stories - Permanent RX Drop Box
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office placed a permanent prescription drop-off box in its lobby. People are encouraged to clean out their medicine cabinets, and drop off any unnecessary drugs. Its a way to cut down on drug abuse in the mountains, since Rutherford county has one of the highest rates of fatal overdoses in the state.
The box will be under 24 hour surveillance, open Monday through Friday, 8:30am till 5pm. All pills must be in a bottle or sealed in a plastic bag.
