Top Stories - Lt. Gov. Dalton Running for Governor
Dalton announced his bid just hours after Gov. Bev Perdue said she would not seek a second term. In a statement, Dalton said "Elections are about choices. As a state we must decide the direction
in which we will turn. With this campaign, I choose to look ahead to a
brighter future. I choose progress. I choose a future where public
education is the foundation of our economy.”
Other possible candidates include 11th District Rep. Heath Shuler, 7th District Rep. Mike McIntyre, former state treasurer Richard Moore, former White House chief of staff Erskine Bowles, State Rep. Bill Faison, and current Charlotte mayor Anthony Foxx.
