The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is not only the most popular national park in the country...with more visitors each year than any other, it also tops all other national parks for the  amount of cash it brings in to the towns around it. A recently released study says 9 million people came to the Smokies in 2010 generating 818 million dollars in spending.  That beats every other national park including the Grand Canyon which came in second with about half the revenue. Business leaders are appreciative of the estimated 11 thousand plus jobs created in gateway communities in places like Haywood County.
