2015 Scholar Athlete of the Year

LISA UY: SCHOLAR/ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
Boiling Springs

Lisa Uy, a senior at Boiling Springs High School, has won the Scholar/Athlete competition for the 2015 season of WMYA-TV’s Friday Night Rivals.  Thanks to the generosity of the program’s sponsor, George Sink Injury Lawyers, Uy will receive a $5,000 scholarship to the college or university of her choice.

This year marked the eighth consecutive season that WMYA-TV has televised live Upstate South Carolina high school football in Prime Time on over-the-air television.  The 2015 schedule included games featuring Union County, Gaffney, Pendleton, Pickens, Spartanburg, Mauldin, Laurens, Hillcrest, Riverside, Byrnes, Westside, Easley, Greenwood, T.L. Hanna, St. Joseph, Christ Church Episcopal, Greer, Blue Ridge, Dorman and Boiling Springs.  Every school on the Friday Night Rivals schedule nominated one senior class Scholar/Athlete for the George Sink/My40 scholarship competition.

Lisa Uy is ranked number one in her class of 526 students at Boiling Springs High School, and because of numerous advanced placement classes, has a 5.175 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.  She is President of the National Honors Society and a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, Key Club, Beta Club, the Literary Magazine and was a delegate to Palmetto Girls State.

In athletics, Lisa Uy has lettered in tennis for three years and was captain of this year’s Boiling Springs team that won the South Carolina Upper State championship for the first time in school history.
