FNR Scholar Athlete
Every Friday during the Bojangles’ Friday Night Rival’s game of the week, My40 and George Sink , P.A. will recognize two students, one from the home team and one from visiting team, as Scholar Athletes of the Week. These students will be honored for their commitment to excellence in their performance both on and off the field.
At the end of the season, one athlete from among those awarded will be honored with a $5,000 scholarship to the university or college they plan to attend. The scholarship is provided by George Sink , P.A.. The winner will be announced on or around November 21st.

A senior cross country runner ranked number one in her class at GaffneyHigh School has been named the 2014 winner of the Entercom Radio/WMYA-TVScholar/Athlete of the Year. 17-year oldAnna Gracie Minor is the daughter of Cynthia and Scott Minor, and she wins a$2,500 college scholarship provided by Bee 93.7 and the Planet 93.3 .
The Scholar/Athlete competition was an important element in WMYA-TVs FridayNight Rivals, our seventh season of televising top quality high school footballall across the Upstate of South Carolina. Each home and visiting school on My40s ten week schedule nominates onestudent in each broadcast who has excelled athletically, in the classroom andin the community. The twenty youngpeople selected by their school Principals are listed below. Every one of them is an outstandingrepresentative of his or her school.

Anna Grace Minor is a letter winner in Cross Country who also competedin three years of Volleyball at Gaffney. She is Senior Class President, an officer in the Beta Club and FrenchClub and a delegate to Palmetto Girls State. She has a 5.149 Grade Point Average of a 4.00 scale because of thenumber of Honors and college Advanced Placement courses she has taken. Gaffney has 396 students in the 2014-15Senior Class and Minor is ranked number one in the class. She also had the top GPA in her freshman,sophomore and junior years at Gaffney. Shehas not yet made her decision on where she will go to college.
